Gæðingur Summer Balls - 5% - Tékkneskur Pilsner

Golden, unchallenged. Unsweetened, lightweight, medium-wait. Grain, hey, grassy citrus tones.

These beers have a sweet malt character, sometimes with a hint of butter caramel tones and a few bitters from hops used, but not decisive. German Pilsners are lighter and less bitter as the Czech ones.

Light stock is the most popular category of beer today and dates back to the city of Pilsen in the Czech Republic. These are sub-fermented beers and are as the name suggests lights or gold in colour and most types of flavour, however with exceptions. Most commonly, wine spirits concentrations range from 4.5% - 5.6% but there are species that have lower intensity or greater intensity. Light stock beers are supposed to be fresh and steep and flavor is characterized by the grain used in the production of beer, quite a lot of foam, and rather small to medium bitterness. Hops are used as a counterweight to the sweetness of the malt liquid.

Microbar lives!

We have opened again at Laugavegur 86. Now you can take joy again and order a cold one with us.

Microbar was the first craft beer bar of Reykjavík, which opened in 2015. The goal of the bar has always been to display the wonderful craft beers of Iceland. The owner of Microbar runs also Gæðingur brewery, which is located 10 minutes (by car) from the center, that is why you will probably come across a few Gæðingur beers on the menu.

Those of you who crave fresh and crisp Icelandic craft beer from Gæðingur Brewery after your visit, can visit us in Microbar Kópavogur, pick some up at  vínbúðin or order at Bjórland.
